Kwajalein Memorial Day

Ebeye, Kwajalein Atoll, February 9, 2011-President Jurelang Zedkaia and a small delegation from the National Government were in Ebeye, Kwajalein for the 2011 Kwajalein Memorial Day event where literally the whole island of Ebeye was flooded with people of all ages wearing green shirts and dresses, the atoll’s official color.

Mayor Johnny D. Lemari and members of the Council received President Zedkaia and his delegation on arrival at the Ebeye Dock where an honor guard from the RMIS Lomor, and the National and Local Government Police forces.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Zedkaia said, “I want to thank the leadership of Kwajalein for the kind invitation extended to me and members of my small delegation to be part of the celebrations today at this auspicious Kwajalein Memorial Day with the people of Kwajalein and the local communities of Kwajalein”.

President Zedkaia went on to say, “as we continue forward, working with and alongside each other, I humbly ask that we join our hearts in prayer for the Divine Guidance as we continue to work together for the betterment and blessings for this Republic”.

President Zedkaia and members of his entourage to Kwajalein returned to the nation’s capital on Friday, 11 February 2011. The President was accompanied by Chairman of the Council of Iroij, Iroij Kotak Loeak, Speaker Alvin T. Jacklick and other members of the Nitijela.
