Japanese Ambassador Sato makes Farewell Call on Acting President & Cabinet Members

Majuro, Marshall Islands – Acting President Jack Ading and members of Cabinet bid farewell to H.E. Ambassador Shoji Sato. Ambassador Sato presented his credential in 2008 to then President Tomeing and has been based in Ponhpei, FSM.

The Government of Japan has provided numerous contributions to the Republic of the Marshall Islands in the fishery sector (US$8 million for the Fish Market), energy sector (US$1.76 million for the Improved Energy Supply for Poor Households), telecommunication sector, education, environment, and through other financial and technical assistance.

“We truly appreciate Japan’s assistance in the Marshall Islands and I am pleased to reaffirm that the Marshall Islands have and will continue to support your commitment as a country and as a people within the framework of the United Nations, and international and regional organizations,” said Ading. “I assure you that all the good things that we have been able to initiate together will be sustained,” he added.
