Majuro, Marshall Islands (Friday, 26 November 2010) – Earlier this week President Zedkaia and Minister in Assistance Zackhras accepted the credentials of H.E. Ambassador Drahomir Stos of Slovak Republic, and H.E. Ambassador Heikki Hannikainen of the Republic of Finland.
The Republic of the Marshall Islands formalized diplomatic relations with Slovak Republic in January of 1999 and with Republic of Finland in January of 1993. These countries have been mutually beneficial to the RMI through the framework of the United Nations, and other international and regional organizations. In the forefront both countries support the RMI in its initiatives in Climate Change, and in renewable and alternate energy.
President Zedkaia reiterated RMI’s commitment and assured that RMI will continue to work with its diplomatic partners, with the United Nations and other international and regional organizations to find common grounds in addressing Climate Change and with other global issues.
