(Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands)-Assistant Secretary of Department of Interior for Insular Affairs Anthony Babauta is in the Republic of the Marshall Islands for a four day visit. Mr. Babauta is scheduled to meet with key government officials, leaders of the 4 atolls, the Marshalls Energy Company, and schools in Majuro and in Lukoj, Arno.
Mr. Babauta and Ambassador Banny deBrum signed off on two grants: the Fiscal Year 2010 Infrastructure Grant which includes MOE at $3,329,773, PMU at $400,000, IMF at $559,462 and the College of the Marshall Islands Fiscal Plant Personnel Training Program at $50,000. Mr. Babauta presented a check to President Zedkaia in the amount of US Dollars $6,075,635 for the April 2010 Compact Payments.
President Zedkaia welcomed and thanked Mr. Babauta and the U.S. Government for the valuable assistance provided to the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The RMI Government remains committed and will continue to work closely with the U.S. Government on various issues.
