May 11, 2009

Monday 11 May 2009 Majuro - Rear Admiral Liu Chih-Pin and officers of the 2009 ROC naval ship squadron were accompanied by ROC Resident Ambassador Bruce Linghu during a courtesy call to President Litokwa Tomeing this morning.

Admiral Liu expressed how deeply the crew, including himself, appreciated the warm welcoming reception upon the ship’s arrival at the Delap dock by various government ministeries and representatives of the private sectors. “This shows a great gesture of strong support and commitment to RMI/ROC relationship. Our visit to RMI will be on our minds for many years to come” said the Rear Admiral.

The 2009 ROC Naval Midshipmen Cruise Training and Goodwill Squadron is not the first of it’s kind to be docked in Majuro. Nonetheless, what is important, as highlighted in President Tomeing’s brief remark, is the appreciation for the economic and cultural value of each visit. At the same time, it offers closer bonding and further enhancement of the mutual friendship between the people of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the people of the Republic of China, Taiwan.
