Ambassador Bruce J. D. Linghu of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presented a check in the amount of THIRTY THOUSAND US DOLLARS (US$30,000.00) to Hon. Tony deBrum, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Hon. Jack Ading, Minister of Finance at International Conference Center (ICC) on November 3, 2008 at 14:00pm. The said amount is part of the Annual Grant of the 2008 fourth quarter of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the RMI Government, and will be utilized for sponsoring the 2008 General Assembly of Women United Together, Marshall Islands (WUTMI), which is to be held in Majuro from November 11 to 15, 2008.
H.E. President Litokwa Tomeing then presented the check to Mrs. Carmen Bigler (President of Women United Together, Marshall Islands, WUTMI). The ceremony was also witnessed by Hon. Norman Matthew, Minister of Internal Affairs, as well as other members of WUTMI including Evelyn Lanki (Vice-President of WUTMI), Daisey Alik-Momotaro (Executive Director) and Tamar Note (Treasurer).
The Government of ROC (Taiwan) attaches great importance to the development of gender equality. It also shares common concerns on the promotion of female human resources development, the diversification and strengthening of women’s role, as well as women’s economical benefits and opportunities in today’s society. Therefore, the People and Government of the ROC (Taiwan) along with its Embassy in Majuro sincerely wish above-mentioned Grant would contribute to the success and fruitful outcome of the WUTMI General Assembly.
